Senior Management
Frederick L. Hall, Ph.D
President and CEO

Doctor Frederick Hall, co-founder of Epeius Biotechnologies, is a leading scientist, inventor, and pioneer in the field of genetic medicine. Prior to founding Epeius, Dr. Hall taught for 12 years at the University of Southern California School of Medicine, where he served as Director of Research in the Department of Surgery and held an academic appointment in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology & Toxicology at the USC School of Pharmacy.
As a research scientist, Dr. Hall is recognized worldwide for his pioneering work on the molecular and genetic mechanisms of cellular growth and cell cycle control, including the identification of the human Cyclin G1 gene, a critical proto-oncogene that is over-expressed in numerous cancer cells, and is thus a primary gene target for anti-cancer therapies. Dr. Hall’s groundbreaking research, funded progressively by the NSF, NIH, and the American Heart Association, led to the development of the therapeutic gene constructs, the advanced gene delivery systems, and the integral tumor-targeting technologies that now enable systemic gene delivery of the leading anti-cancer agent Rexin-G.
Under the leadership of Dr. Hall and his co-founder, Dr. Gordon, M.D., Epeius Biotechnologies has accomplished a significant number of Corporate Milestones:
- Founded Epeius Biotech and gained exclusive licensing rights for all of the core targeting and molecular-genetic technologies embodied in Rexin-G
- Conducted landmark clinical trials worldwide, which validated Rexin-G
- Attained Orphan Drug Status and clinical funding through the U.S. FDA
- Gained Accelerated Approval and product registration for Rexin-G for all solid tumors through the Philippine Bureau of Food and Drugs
- Attained two major international patents for Targeted Gene Delivery In Vivo
- Extended Epeius’ enviable IP estate with innovations in cancer vaccines
- Advanced biopharmaceutical manufacturing to a new state-of-the-art through rigorous R&D and a series of major technological innovations
- Generated the company’s first million dollars in revenues through sales
- Initiated a program of corporate alliances for the manufacturing of Rexin-G and the clinical development of its medical utility worldwide
Thus, in addition to leading the advancement of bioscience and medicine from “the bench to the bedside” in a manner that is unprecedented in modern times, the senior management team of Epeius Biotechnologies continues to raise the bar for the biopharmaceutical industry in terms of corporate productivity, R&D efficiency, and significant drug development.
Erlinda Maria Gordon, M.D.
Founder, Chairman of the Board, Vice President, Operations and Medical Affairs
Doctor Erlinda Gordon is a founder, visionary business builder, and Chairman of Epeius Biotechnologies, who also serves as Medical Director. Prior to founding the company, Dr. Gordon held several key positions at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California over the past 15 years, where she served as Associate Professor of Pediatrics & Medical Director of the Vector Production Unit and the Molecular Therapeutics Division of the USC Gene Therapy Laboratories. Her long-standing contributions to cancer treatment and research began with her investigations of the novel cancer drug VM26, now used for treatment of acute monoblastic leukemia in infants (published in Blood, 1984). Dr. Gordon is also recognized for her original research and extensive publication history in the field of gene therapy. She was recipient of a Research Career Development Award from the NIH, and has extensive experience in Phase I through Phase IV NIH-sponsored clinical trials for pediatric cancers (Childrens Cancer Study Group) and hemophilia.
As Chairman and Medical Director of Epeius Biotechnologies, Dr. Gordon serves as the primary medical liaison and Gene Therapy Sponsor for clinical trials for advanced pancreatic cancer and other solid tumors in Manila, Philippines, and as FDA liaison for ongoing Phase I/II and Phase II Registration trials in the USA. Dr. Gordon is a board-certified pediatric hematologist-oncologist who received her M.D. degree (cum laude) in 1971 from the University of Santo Tomas School of Medicine and Surgery in Manila, Philippines, and her pediatric residency and hematology-oncology fellowship training at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio.
Under the leadership of Dr. Gordon and her co-founder Dr. Frederick Hall, Epeius Biotechnologies has raised over 7 million dollars in federal and academic research funding needed to fully-develop the core biotechnologies, followed by an additional 60 million dollars in investment capital with which they successfully guided the transition of Epeius Biotechnologies Corporation from an academic ‘startup’ to a free-standing, revenue-generating specialty biopharmaceutical company, with worldwide reach in clinical development. Leading the field of genetic medicine forward where many others have failed, these visionary business builders have developed an intellectual property portfolio that is the envy of the biopharmaceutical industry; they have validated the company’s lead product(s) in the crucible of clinical trials and have essentially established the emergent field of Pathotropic (or disease-seeking) Genetic Medicine.
