Product Development
Epeius’ leading clinical product, Rexin-G™, is the world’s first tumor-targeted gene delivery system for the treatment of primary and metastatic cancer. Rexin-G has been demonstrated to cause tumor shrinkage and necrosis in patients suffering from metastatic cancer and is highly active against a broad spectrum of chemo-resistant tumor types. Rexin-G, has been approved by the U.S. FDA for use in Phase I/II clinical trials and has been granted accelerated approval in the Philippines by the Bureau of Food and Drugs, BFAD. Rexin-G, has also received Orphan Drug Status from the U.S. FDA regulatory agency.
Epeius is currently developing Reximmune-C™, for the rapid, strategic and individualized vaccination of each patient against his or her specific cancer type. Reximmune-C, is designed to recruit the body’s immune cells to the cancer site by delivering immune-response genes directly to the cancerous lesion. Reximmune-C, is currently being investigated in clinical trials in combination with Rexin-G to provide a treatment regimen that can reduce tumor burden and recruit the body’s immune cells to prevent cancer recurrence.
Both Rexin-G and Reximmune-C were engineered to incorporate Epeius’ pathotropic TDS technology, which enables preferential delivery of cytocidal and immune response genes to the areas of pathology presented by tumors in cancer patients. Selective targeting of Rexin-G increases its efficacy and decreases the potential for deleterious side effects and organ damage, serious complications that are commonly associated with conventional cancer therapies, including chemotherapy and radiation.
